4 dozen corn on the cob


I'll be busy tonight! I bought 4 dozen locally grown corn at the fruit market today. I'm going to blanch the corn in boiling water for 10 minutes....plunge it in ice water until cool...cut the corn off the cob...measure out 2 cup portions...and freeze in freezer bags. This is my first summer doing this and I am so happy I decided to do it. Yummy corn all winter long!

  1. Yum Yum! I love fresh sweet corn. I put up some corn last month. I was at a friends house so I didn't have all of my fav utensils. However it was fun and not to much work. By the way the Chess Pie I made last week was awful! I will be trying your Buttermilk Pie next. It looked super!

  2. Peggy! I am sorry to hear about your Chess Pie!! I have never made chess pie, but I have seen it in cook books. Good luck with my recipe for buttermilk pie.

  3. OMG. I miss real, American, bi-color, sweet, tender, delicious sweet corn. England just doesn't do it quite right. Send some to me? (Just kidding...sort of...only because they wouldn't let it through customs :-)

  4. Aw Kim, so sorry I can't send you some good ole fashioned American corn because of customs! I do have to say that the corn this summer has been sweeter than ever. I don't know what's the deal, but we have been pleasantly surprised and eating it a lot!
